On Tuesday night at Patriots Stadium, the Liberty Girls Varsity Soccer team recorded their first win of the season by a margin of 1-0 over Hilliard Bradley to move to 1-0-1 on the season.

The first half yielded few highlights as the Pattys came out flat and struggled to maintain possession and build the attack.  The defensive unit held fast and turned away a few scoring chances by Bradley which kept the score knotted at 0-0 at the half.

After the break and throughout the second half, the Patriots improved their overall work rate, ball winning, first touch and movement off the ball and the results showed in both possession and on the scoreboard. In the 55th minute, Grace Linscott won a 50/50 challenge, advanced the ball on the left flank to the endline and served a quality cross to Emma Lindsey who calmly finished the chance, which would prove to be the game winning goal.

Bradley’s most dangerous scoring opportunity would come in the 68th minute when a through ball in front of the Pattys goal that appeared to be offside found the feet of a Bradley attacker and Goalkeeper Riley Cartwright made a stellar reaction kick save of the resulting shot, and the Pattys would close out the remaining 12 minutes to bring home the win.

In the earlier JVA match, the Patriots recorded a 1-0 win over Bradley on a goal by Alex Hill with assist from Jazlyn Brooker in the 1st minute, and JVB won vs. Thomas Worthington on Monday on goals by Alex Drew and Kelly Rothert.

GO PATTYS!
