Pattys Get Big Win Over Jerome In First Home Game
September 1, 2017

On Tuesday, the Liberty Girls Soccer team traveled to their fourth consecutive road game for a non-conference matchup with Marysville.  Liberty controlled possession and had multiple scoring chances in the first half, but it took until the 28th minute to break through when an Olivia Sensky free kick from distance found Madison Rapier who scored. Two minutes later, Anna Hadley broke through the back line, beat two Marysville defenders down the end line and finished a near post chance off the goalkeeper to take a 2-0 lead.  The lead would hold until halftime due to a stellar diving save by Riley Cartwright with less than 30 seconds in the half.

During halftime, severe weather put the match into delay, and when the game resumed at close to 9:00PM, the home team came out with intensity and consistently pressured the Pattys in the first 10 minutes.  On a corner kick that resulted in a failed clearance, Marysville collected the ball and finished inside the far post through traffic.

The balance of the match was fairly even, with Liberty getting the best of the scoring chances but without converting. Marysville battled until the end but was not able to produce the equalizer, and the Liberty back line and goalkeeper Cartwright stood firm to deliver  the 2-1 victory.

In the earlier JVA match, Liberty won by the same 2-1 score, with goals by Nora Gilger assisted by Miranda Stefanik and Katie Underhill with an assist from Sydney Rohl.  Maddie Kelley had a strong peformance in goal registering 11 saves.

The four game road trip ends on Thursday when Liberty hosts Dublin Jerome on Thursday at 5:30PM (JVA) and 7:15PM (Varsity)

GO PATTYS!
