The 2017 Pattys season opener at Coffman on Friday presented an early challenge to the Liberty Girls resolve, but in the end the Liberty Girls never quit and battled back from deficits of 2-0 and 3-1 to earn a 3-3 draw in front of a lively Friday Night Lights crowd.

Coffman opened the scoring in the 7th minute when a rebound off a point blank initial save by Liberty Junior Goalkeeper Riley Cartwright was collected by the Shamrocks and put into the net. Shortly after the opening tally, a Liberty foul in the box yielded a Penalty Kick which was converted by Coffman for a 2-0 lead.  Midway through the first half, Liberty would cut the deficit in half off a free kick from Senior Captain, Olivia Sensky, that hit the crossbar, resulted in a scramble for the second ball and Senior Madison Rapier buried the chance for her first goal of the season.   Before the half, however, Coffman would re-establish a two goal margin and 3-1 lead at the half with a shot in the closing minutes that found its way just under the crossbar.

The Patriots came out in the second half and took control, leaving first match nerves behind, controlling possession and putting heavy pressure on the Rocks.  Junior Gia Gaetano scored off a cross from Senior Abby Townsend, and with about 10 minutes left Senior Anna Hadley launched a laser into the Upper 90 from 25 yards out to equalize. The Pattys had a few more quality chances before the final whistle, but were not able to convert, leaving the result at a hard fought 3-3 draw.

In the earlier JVA match, the final score was 2-2, and the JVB match vs. Delaware Hayes JV resulted in a 1-4 loss.

GO PATTYS!
