October 15, 2016Liberty entered Braves stadium on Thursday night needing either a tie or win to secure their 3rd consecutive OCC Conference Championship, in the inaugural battle for the OCC Buckeye Division which was formed in 2016 and includes all of the Olentangy and Westerville high schools.
The result was a disappointing 0-3 loss with the difference being the first 20 minutes of the match where Olentangy outworked Liberty, and were rewarded with 3 early goals. For the balance of the game, Liberty put pressure on the Braves by playing the entire second half with 3 in the back and pushing the attack, but the Olentangy defense stood tall and preserved the shutout.
As a result, Olentangy finishes 4-0-1 in conference with 13 points, and Liberty finishes 4-1-0 with 12 points for a 2nd place finish. Congratulations to the Braves on their 3rd consecutive OCC Championship.
Liberty is now focused on the final match at Upper Arlington on Saturdayat 3:45PM, and then on to the OHSAA tournament where Liberty enters as the #2 Seed in the Central Region at 11-3-1.
