The Pattys traveled for the first time this season to non-conference opponent, Gahanna Lincoln, and fell short in the contest by the score of 0-1. The loss  is the first of the season for Liberty, whose record now stands at 4-1-0 on the season.

In the first half, the Patriots had the better of possession, but as with the previous three games the match was scoreless at half. The second half was more evenly matched, with the difference being the high work rate and intensity of the Gahanna squad whose confidence grew as the match progressed with keeping Liberty off of the scoreboard.

The only goal of the match came in the 68th minute. In a flurry of action in front of the Pattys goal, Emily Sloan was denied on two quality scoring chances from close range on outstanding saves by Grace Poncsak. Liberty was unable to clear the rebound, and Sloan followed her shot and buried the game winner. The goal represents only the second given up by the Pattys  in 5 games, and both senior goalkeepers, Emma Campbell and Grace Poncsak, turned in solid performances.

The Pattys will regroup after the loss and prepare for next week’s away matches at Olentangy Orange (9/13) and Hilliard Davidson (9/15).

In the earlier JVA match, the squad remained undefeated at 4-0-1 with a 2-2 draw. Goals for Liberty were scored by Addie Moeller (unassisted) and Laura Bichsel (assist by Emily Milisavljevich). Gahanna generated very few attacking opportunities but capitalized on two penalty kicks.

GO PATTYS!
