The Liberty Girls Soccer program opened the 2016 season with wins for JVA (5-0) and Varsity (2-0) on Saturday evening in Patriots Stadium. The JVB game was canceled due to weather delays and will be rescheduled for September 10th.

First year JVA Head Coach, Jenna Wiet, and her JVA squad started off the day on a positive note with a dominating performance. Goals were contributed by Cameron Fike (assist Elise Koshan), Elise Koshan, Grace Linscott (assist Lauren Brady), an own goal by Thomas off of a Jenna Geier corner kick and capped by a Laura Bichsel score off an assist from Emily Milisavljevich.

In the Varsity match, the Pattys controlled possession throughout with a 62% to 38% advantage.  Liberty scored in the 27th minute on a cross from Sophie Fallieras to Sarina Dirrig, whose shot deflected off the post into the back of the net.  Thomas’ only serious scoring threat came in the 39th minute off a corner kick, when what looked like a certain header goal was calmly cleared off the line by Sydney Weaver.

In the second half, the Pattys sealed the victory in the 73rd minute when Abby Jones whipped a corner kick directly into the goal.

The Pattys outshot the Cards 13 to 5 and had a 7 to 3 advantage in corners.  Emma Campbell registered 3 saves, and Grace Poncsak recorded 1 save in goal for Liberty.

GO PATTYS!
