Liberty Downs Thomas Worthington 2-1, Brings Home OCC Central Division Championship at 7-0-0!
October 13, 2015Pattys Move Forward In OHSAA Playoffs With 2-1 Win Over DeSales (10/22)
October 22, 2015After a two week stretch of intense matches with major implications in the OCC Central conference race and for playoff seeding, the Patriots entered Thursday’s match with the conference championship in hand and the #6 seed in the region, but the energy that had been present in recent matches would not be present on this night. Kilbourne took advantage of a flat and fatigued Patriots squad, and struck for three goals in the first half which led to a final score of 1-3 in favor of the Wolves.
The highlights were few,but the Pattys did manage to rally near the end of the first half when Senior Captain Hailey Pickelheimer hit a laser of the crossbar and into the goal from 34 yards, off an assist from Senior Captain Emma Waters. The goal was Pickelheimer’s 8th of the season, and the 5th assist for Center Defender Waters. Another scoring opportunity was almost converted as time ran out in the first half.
The second half was scoreless with Liberty having the advantage in shots, but the Pattys were not successful in adding to their scoring total.
The team will rest and recover over the weekend, and return to training Monday to prep for their OHSAA Playoff re-match vs. St. France DeSales on Thursday, October 22nd at 7:00PM.
Liberty finishes the regular season with a record of 10-5-1, and 7-0-0 in conference.
GO PATTYS!
