Hilliard Davidson visited Patriots Stadium on a rainy night, and the Pattys swept both matches by scores of 5-1 (JVA) and 1-0 (Varsity).
The Pattys Varsity squad dominated all aspects of the match, and if not for some outstanding saves by the Davidson’s Goalkeeper, the scoreline could have looked much different. Liberty played into a heavy wind in the first half but still controlled play, and were rewarded in the 35th minute when a cross from Junior Sarina Dirrig was redirected by Sophomore Abby Townsend to Junior Kenzie Coyne who was well positioned at the back post to bury the chance.
In the second half, the Patriots had the run of play and several quality chances, including a free kick from 25 yards from Senior Captain Emma Waters that looked certain to find the Upper 90 but was tipped over the bar, and a point blank shot from Sophomore Abby Jones which Davidson’s Senior Goalkeeper, April Kelly, somehow kept from crossing the line.
The Liberty defensive unit registered a shutout, with Junior Goalkeeper Emma Campbell turning in a strong performance, commanding the box and registering four saves.
In the earlier win by JVA, goals were scored by Madison Rapier (2), Brooke Severance (1) and Malia Follmer (2). Assists were credited to Severance, Cameron Fike and Anna Lovett.
A very special thanks to Coach Kristen’s parents, Dave & Diana McMahon, for the awesome chili dinner for the players and families tonight!
The Pattys travel to intra-district rival Olentangy on Thursday.
