DSC_0024The Lady Patriots Varsity Soccer team came out of the holiday weekend ready to play and delivered a convincing 3-0 win over OCC Central Division rival Upper Arlington on Tuesday night.

The Pattys dominated all aspects of the game and every player on the roster saw significant action in the match.  Upper Arlington was only able to generate 2 shots on goal, and the defensive unit led by Senior Captain Emma Waters with Junior Emma Koshan, Junior Abby Summers and Sophomore Sydney Weaver turned in a solid effort to help secure a second consecutive shutout.

DSC_0695Liberty opened the scoring at the 9:35 mark of the first half on a goal by Senior Jordan Fike, assisted by Sarina Dirrig. There would be no further scoring in the first half.

The Pattys came out with high energy in the second half and just under five minutes in pushed the lead to 2-0 when Fike sent a cross on the ground through the box, Senior Captain Hailey Pickelheimer made a quality dummy run leaving Dirrig open at the back post for a strong finish past the UA goalkeeper.  Dirrig capped off the scoring six minutes later on a free kick from just outside the box, sending the shot over the wall and into the Upper 90. The Patriots controlled possession with good ball movement for the balance of the match, and with the win improve to 2-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.

DSC_0671In the earlier match, JVA fell by a score of 2-3 to the Golden Bears.  The goals for Liberty were scored by Brooke Severance and Cameron Gordon, with assists on both goals from Madison Rapier.

Next up is an away match for both JVA and Varsity at Pickerington North on Thursday evening, while JVB travels to Upper Arlington for a Wednesday 9/9 match.

GO PATTYS!
