After the holiday weekend, all three Patriots Girls’ teams returned to action on Tuesday night with JVB at Bloom Carroll, and JVA and Varsity visiting Upper Arlington in a conference matchup .

JVB won 5-2 at Bloom Carroll, raising their record to 6-0-0 on the year. Madison Rapier had a hat trick with goals also scored by Anna Lovett and Lauren Spicer. Spicer also had an assist. Coach Q noted strong defensive efforts from Mackenzie Scott & Kayla Rizzo. JVB is now 6-0-0 on the season.

JVA went up 1-0 in the first half on a goal by Meredith Shook and assist from Sophie Fallieras. The Pattys yielded the lead and went down 2-1 in the second half but a late equalizer by Kasey Reida drew the match even at 2-2 and that is how it ended. Morgan Gray turned in a solid performance anchorng the back line on defense. JVA is now 1-0-3 on the season.

In the Varsity match, Liberty outshot the Golden Bears by a margin of 19-5, but only 5 of the Patriots shots found the frame. Two found the back of the net and provided the 2-0 victory, leaving the Pattys 5-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference.  The overall performance did not meet expectations for Coach Saiben and the Pattys, who will take what they learned and go back to work on Wednesday to prepare for the match on Thursday vs. Watterson.

Goals were scored by Hayley Hickman in the first half on a volley off a corner from senior captain Emma Ranalli, and Jordan Fike scored midway through the second half after Abby Summers threaded a long pass behind the defenders. Fike settled the ball on the run and finished the chance.

The starting defensive group of goalkeeper MIranda Kuhns, Hayley Hickman and captains Katie Best and Emma Waters repeatedly turned back the Upper Arlington attack, resulting in the 4th shutout of the season in five games. To date, the Pattys have allowed only 2 goals in all preseason and regular season encounters.

Next up for all three teams is Watterson on Thursday.  Let’s fill the stands with family, friends and neighbors to support your Pattys!

GO PATRIOTS!
