In a rematch of last year’s District Final, Liberty entered the match ranked #2 in the initial OSSCA state poll and Watterson had cracked the top ten at #8. A great crowd was on hand at Patriots Stadium to see two of the central district’s best teams in action. Both teams were 5-0-0, and after 80 minutes the score remained 0-0 leaving the Patriots feeling they had not achieved the desired result.

Liberty had an edge in possession and in scoring chances, but lacked patience as a unit in the finishing third and was not able to convert on several solid goal scoring opportunities.  Liberty only managed to get 3 of their 12 shots on frame for the match.

Watterson’s main scoring opportunities came in transition and counter attacks, most of which were turned away by the Patriot defense, but senior goalkeeper Miranda Kuhns made a key 1 v 1 save late in the second half to preserve the shutout.

In the JVA match, the Patriots won 1-0, with the game winner being scored by Meredith Shook, and raised the team’s record to 2-0-3.

In the JVB match, the result was also 1-0 in favor of LIberty. Lauren Spicer scored for the Patty’s, and JVB also remains undefeated at 6-0-0.

To date, the combined teams’ records are 13-0-4.

Next up for Varsity and JVA is a conference match at Marysville on Tuesday, and JVB plays this Saturday at home at 10:00AM vs. Bexley.

GO PATRIOTS!
