On Tuesday night, the #8 District seed Pattys traveled to #5 Hilliard Bradley for a District Semifinal matchup, with avenging an early season 0-1 loss on their minds. Liberty was well prepared for the rematch and did not disappoint delivering a convincing 2-0 win.
The win is the Pattys 7th shutout in their last 8 games, with a record of 7-1 during that stretch and a .37 goals against average.
In the Bradley match, Liberty struck first in the 11th minute when Abby Jones whipped in a spectacular corner which deflected off a Bradley defender into the goal. The Pattys controlled possession for the balance of the first half and found the back of the net again in the 39th minute when Sydney Weaver fed the ball to Laura Bichsel, who beat a defnder and launched a rocket from 20 yards past the Jaguar goalkeeper to carry a 2-0 lead into the break.
In the second half, Bradley brought heavy pressure in the first 15 minutes earning four corner kicks and several shots, but all were defended by the rock solid Liberty back line of Sensky, Weaver, Follmer and Curmode or saved by goalkeeper Cartwright. In the balance of the half, Liberty got more of the ball and frustrated the Jaguar attack, preserving the 2-0 shutout and raising their season record to 10-5-3.
With the win, Liberty advances to a remarkable 5th consecutive District Final vs. Olentangy Orange on this Saturday, October 28th with time and location to be determined. A win would secure a 4th straight District Championship.
