On Saturday, the Pattys welcomed the Centerville Elks to Patriots Stadium for a rematch of a 2016 Scrimmage at Centerville.  Liberty surrendered an early goal, but was able to reverse the deficit by the half on goals from Madison Rapier and Abby Townsend, with Olivia Sensky providing the assist on both goals. Both teams battled in the second half with Centerville increasing pressure as time elapsed. It looked like Liberty might be able to kill the clock on their final attack, but Centerville collected a cross and won several 50/50 challenges up the field resulting in an equalizer with 7 seconds remaining, ending the match in a 2-2 draw.

On Tuesday, the first conference match of the year looked to be heading in the Pattys favor as they carried a 1-0 lead into the final 10 minutes on a goal by Lyndsey Kijowski that was assisted by Abby Townsend. However, the Pioneers found the back of the net at 72′ and 74′ to capture a 2-1 win.

Liberty’s next Varsity/JVA match is Tuesday, September 19th at Westerville South, where the Pattys hope to bounce back and return to winning ways before heading into matchups with perennial powers Pickerington North and Lakota East.
