In their final home game of the season on Tuesday, the Pattys welcomed New Albany to Patriots Stadium for a District Semifinal matchup.  The Eagles entered the game with an impressive 13-1-4 record, and defeated Westerville Central last week to advance.

Liberty delivered a dominant performance in one of their more complete efforts of the season, with an impressive 63% possession statistic on the match at a speed of play that had the Eagles chasing the action for most of the night, and ended with an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Pattys opened the scoring in the 8th minute when Emma Koshan played a ball downline to Abby Townsend, who beat her mark, drove end line and hit a low hard cross back post to Natalie Amodeo who drove the ball home after making a 70 yard run in transition.

The half ended at 1-0, but Liberty carried high energy into the start of the second half, adding goals in the 50th and 51st minute. The second goal came off a shot from Abby Townsend that deflected off an Eagle defender with an assist from Abby Jones, and the final tally also came from Townsend on a low curling drive from distance to the back post off an assist from Natalie Amodeo.  The two goals and assist from Townsend raise her totals to 20 goals and 8 assists on the season, which are both team bests.

The Pattys registered their 10th shutout of the season, with Emma Campbell and Grace Poncsak once again providing solid play between the pipes. The entire defensive unit turned in a strong effort to deny the Eagles of any substantial scoring chances.

Next up, the Patriots face Olentangy on Saturday, time and location TBD (stay tuned for details). This will be a rematch of October 13th conference championship where Olentangy prevailed.

The Patriots play for a school record 4th consecutive District Championship, earning District Finalist honors in 2013, and District Championships in both 2014 and 2015.   Our work is not done!

GO PATTYS!
