The Pattys entered Tuesdays match controlling their own destiny in the quest for Liberty Girls Soccer first OCC Central Division Championship since the division realignment, and delivered the trophy with a convincing 3-0 win over Thomas Worthington, who also could have captured the title with a win.  The Patriots are now 13-1-1, with a final conference record of 6-1-0 allowing only one goal in all conference matches.

Even though the Patriots had a 1-0 lead at half, on an opening unassisted goal by Senior Captain Emma Ranalli from 30 yards out to the low far post, the Patriots lacked their customary composure and turned the ball over more than expected.

However, in the second half the Pattys gained command of the match through an outstanding display of possession, ball winning and teamwork. Kylie Slusser scored midway into the second half on an assist from Ranalli, and Lexy Fisher finished off the Cardinals with an unassisted goal from distance with 15 minutes left. Although they did not end up on the score line, the work rate of Sarina Dirrig and Jordan Fike helped wear down the Cardinals defense, and opened up opportunities for others.

On the defensive side of the ball, Ranalli delivered a commanding performance in central midfield, and fueled the attack with her distribution. The starting defensive back line of Senior Captain Katie Best, Junior Captain Emma Waters and the combo of Senior Hayley Hickman and Sophomore Emma Koshan shut down what had been a very potent offense. MIranda Kuhns contributed 5 saves, including a couple key saves when Thomas was able to generate an attack. Best neutralized Thomas’ dynamic attacker Grace Deluca, Waters cleared a ball off the line to save a sure goal, and Hickman and Koshan delivered solid performances to lead the Pattys to their 12th shutout of the year. To date the Patriots have only allowed 3 goals in 15 matches, for a .20 goals against average.

Olivia Sensky, Abby Summers, Katie Kill, Hailey Pickelheimer, Mackenzie Coyne and Natalie Amodeo all contributed to the victory as well.

The regular season concludes on Thursday on Senior NIght vs. Olentangy.

In earlier matches also vs. Thomas Worthington, JVA battled to a 1-1 draw, remaining undefeated at 7-0-7.  Meredith Shook scored unassisted.

JVB concluded their season with a 9-0 rout of Thomas, and finished with an UNDEFEATED FINAL RECORD OF 14-0-2.  Goals were scored by Madison Rapier (2), Lauren Spicer (2), Kristen Holecek, Kayla Rizzo, Taylor McGee, Mackenna Bay and Laura Edwards.
