If there was any concern about how the Patriots would respond to the setback on Tuesday vs. Coffman, the questions were answered in a strong team effort in a non-conference match with Hilliard Darby on Thursday.

The Panthers were content to get 11 players behind the ball, pack it in their half and defend, but the Pattys enjoyed over 80% possession, wore down and broke down Darby’s defense to notch a 3-0 win.  Had it not been for several point blank shots that the Pattys directed right to the opposing goalkeeper, the result could have been more lopsided, but the win was a great way to start Homecoming weekend.  All 19 field players saw action in the match. The Pattys had 27 shots to Darby’s 4, and an advantage in corners of 9-0.

The first goal came right before the half when Hailey Pickelheimer got behind her defender, received a pass in stride, and when her shot deflected off the goalkeeper, Jordan Fike put away the rebound for the goal. The next goal came when some hard work at the endline by Fike resulted in a cross to Olivia Sensky who buried chance for her first goal. The final goal came when Sensky played a ball over the defense and Sarina Dirrig got behind the defenders and calmly passed the ball into the net to secure the win.

The defense turned in another rock solid performance resulting in the 11th shutout of the season. The team has allowed only 3 goals in 14 games, for a goals against average of 0.14.

JVA extended their unbeaten streak to 13 games with a 2-0 win over a scrappy Darby side.  The first goal was scored by Sydney Engelhart off a corner from Harley Hatfield, and Sophie Fallieras scored on a left footed bomb in the final second of the match to lock up the win.

On Tuesday, the OCC Central championship is on the line vs. Thomas Worthington. The winner of the match will be crowned conference champion. In the result of a tie, Dublin Coffman would likely be champion pending results of their final match vs. Upper Arlington.
