On Tuesday night, the Patty’s faced a motivated Darby team on their Senior night. The Panthers have struggled this season, but brought their best effort, and took advantage of their experience on the slick, bumpy home pitch to present a good challenge to the Patriots.
The Patty’s scored early when Natalie Flahive got in behind the defense on a flank run, and crossed the ball to Julia Bruno who buried the chance in stride, but the team was not successful in finding the net for the rest of the match, despite having more chances than the Panthers. The match was halted for 30 minutes due to an injury to one of the Patty’s (name not disclosed on web site for privacy reasons), and the girls did their best to recover after watching their teammate leave the field in an ambulance.
On a night that did not feature the Patty’s best effort, they were still able to rally and secure the win, improving their overall record to 9-1-4 and 4-1-1 in conference.
The Patriots aim to return to top form on Tuesday night in the final OCC Central Conference match against a Thomas Worthington team that will be hungry to confront the Patty’s on their home turf.
