VARSITY: After a tough 0-3 loss on Tuesday to Olentangy, the Pattys bounced back on Senior Night and shutout Watterson by a score of 3-0.  The victory marked the 5th shutout win in Liberty’s last six games.  Against Watterson, goals were scored by Abby Townsend in the 27th minute when Jasmine Hauser threaded a through ball to Townsend on the run who beat two Watterson defenders and hit a laser that the Eagles goalkeeper could only deflect into the goal at the near post. In the 44th minute, Madison Rapier found the back of the net when she collected a Watterson turnover near midfield and made a 40 yard run resulting in a smooth finish, with support by Townsend who made a run off the ball that drew several Watterson defenders and left the open shot for Rapier. Rapier would close out the scoring with her second goal of the night, and both Gia Gaetano and Abby Townsend were credited with assists.  Gaetano won a strong header 50/50 challenge sending the ball 25 yards forward, Townsend flicked on the ball toward the goal and in the scramble in front of the net Rapier found the loose ball and tucked it away to seal the victory.  The regular season record closes at 8-5-3 against one of the highest strength of schedule rankings in the entire state.  Season stats for Varsity can be found HERE.

The Pattys enter the OHSAA Tournament as the #8 seed in the 42 team district, with a first round bye and hosting Franklin Heights next Thursday at 7:00PM. You can check out the full regional playoff bracket HERE.
